I’m throwing this out there for your ideas and photos I put all my Boker knives on the table today. They’ve become my focus recently, simply because it’s a challenge to find information. Anyways, here’s something I noticed. Ringed Bolsters It appears to me that almost all of my pre- Bokers have ringed bolsters. They did seem to continue the ringed bolsters on some of the congress patterns. Nowadays it seems they’re back in vogue though – on my new copperhead pattern for instance. Same could be said for swedged blades

One of the very first production knife companies to employ laser cutting machines to cut their blade blanks, Benchmade has gone on to pioneer other knife making technologies as well. But, the real reason that they have such a solid reputation is the fact that the tolerances of each piece of the knife is checked by hand at each stage of manufacture, and then, the entire knife is assembled by hand by a highly experienced Benchmade bladesmith resulting in meticulously crafted cutlery.
Of course, the Benchmade Presidio is no exception! Available with your choice of a manual or automatic opening mechanism, a plain or serrated edge, and either a stain or a matte black BK1 finish, the Presidio will become your best friend! Also, it features a highly ergonomic pair of handle scales made from machined, aircraft-grade, T6 aluminum with a reversible, tip-up only, steel pocket clip.

So with Boker sometimes you need to figure out what you don’t have to help you get closer to what you do have. So this particular knife, is a civilian model not military, can tell this by the sheath and the lack of lanyard hole. What I’m really baffled at is the knife is not stamped? There should be at the base of the blade a Boker stamp on the left side, and stamped on the right side, to me from the pictures it looks like someone used a engraving pen, you can really see it in the USA and also a sort of slip of the pen to the left of the U?
I know the military ones are collectable, the sheath and lack of lanyard seem correct for the civilian market but the markings seem odd to me? Not really sure if someone tried to pull one over on someone or maybe a employee took the materials and made the knife at home? I really have no idea the knife looks right but the odd engraving and lack of stamps seems to be questionable? I thought maybe someone worked a Boker plus model but the Boker Plus reissue models have a lanyard hole.
I guess it could be some sort of commemorative type knife they had engraved for display or as a reward?

As Desdemona is preparing for bed the night she will be murdered, she starts singing a song about willow trees. We’d be nodding off to Antiques. In English folklore, a willow tree is believed to be quite sinister, capable of uprooting itself and stalking travellers. Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello with notes, The poor soul sat singing by a sycamore tree.
Sing all a green willow: A song much like this is found in Percy’s.

This is a guest post from Matt Pisarcik and Sebastian Sandersius. You may have thought about owning one, but immediately dismissed the idea for a host of reasons. They can be expensive, delicate, mastering their use is a real art, and so on. Like anything made in the 19th and early 20th centuries, vintage straight razors can be found in very high grades of steel from classic old world cutlery empires such as England, Sweden, and Germany.
However, you may be asking yourself, where do you find such a razor? The first place to look could be closer than you think. Chances are you may either find a straight razor or another cool keepsake such as a shaving mug or brush. This brings us to the next important topic to consider. What to Look For Back in the heyday of straight razor manufacturing, there were literally hundreds of cutlery companies across the world making razor blades for sale.
However, in the straight razor community of today, there are several common manufacturers that have a proven track record and are generally agreed upon as having a long lasting quality, grade of steel, and ability to hold an edge while delivering a comfortable shave. On a larger level, it is also known that some of the best straight razors came out of a select few parts of the world known for metallurgy.
Great manufacturers from this city include:
